HARRISBURG – Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-33) today announced more than $4.6 million in state grant funding for 21 projects across Franklin and Adams counties, delivering significant investments in public safety, water and sewer infrastructure, emergency services and community facilities.
The highly competitive grants were awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Statewide Local Share Account Program.
“These investments will make a real difference in communities across Franklin and Adams counties,” Mastriano said. “They will put new fire and police equipment into service, strengthen aging water and sewer systems, improve community facilities and help our municipalities and volunteer organizations meet needs that would otherwise fall heavily on local taxpayers.”
Mastriano worked in cooperation with Reps. Rob Kauffman (R-89), Dan Moul (R-91), Rich Irvin (R-81), Chad Reichard (R-90) and Catherine Wallen (R-193) to support the successful applications.
“I’m grateful for the partnership of our House members and, especially, for the work of the municipalities, authorities, first responders and community organizations that developed these projects,” Mastriano said. “These are exactly the kinds of investments that state government should be making — projects that improve public safety, strengthen essential infrastructure and enhance the quality of life in the communities we call home.”
Adams County
- Biglerville Borough – $82,769 – Purchase and upfitting of a new police vehicle for the Biglerville Borough Police Department.
- Bonneauville Borough – $110,214 – Improvements to the borough’s storm sewer system.
- Carroll Valley Borough – $500,000 – Expansion of sanitary sewer infrastructure along Country Club Trail Road.
- Fairfield Municipal Authority – $300,000 – Rehabilitation of the authority’s sanitary sewer system.
- Franklin Township Municipal Authority – $100,000 – Purchase of emergency generators for two well sites, helping ensure continued water service during power outages and emergencies.
- McSherrystown Borough – $100,000 – Acquisition of municipal equipment.
- Possum Valley Municipal Authority – $82,623 – Purchase of a Kubota compact track loader and grading bucket with bolt-on cutting edge on behalf of Menallen Township.
- York Springs Municipal Authority – $368,000 – Waterline improvements along Main Street in York Springs Borough.
Franklin County
- Antrim Township – $250,000 – Purchase of a new fire engine for Rescue Hose Company No. 1 of Greencastle.
- Borough of Chambersburg – $400,000 – Phase I improvements to the Eugene C. Clarke Jr. Community Center.
- Franklin County Area Development Corporation – $97,931 – Funding on behalf of Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County for the purchase of a new box truck for operations in Guilford Township.
- Franklin County Area Development Corporation – $358,130 – Funding on behalf of Menno Haven Inc. in Greene Township for the purchase and installation of an emergency generator.
- Franklin County Area Development Corporation – $200,000 – Funding on behalf of the Waynesboro Area YMCA for renovations to two connecting gymnasiums in Waynesboro Borough.
- Greene Township – $136,666 – Purchase and installation of HVAC systems at the historic Corker Hill Mansion.
- Greene Township – $212,300 – Funding on behalf of Totem Pole Playhouse for facility renovations.
- Guilford Township – $312,191 – Funding on behalf of the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department toward the purchase of a new pumper/tanker.
- Guilford Township – $92,000 – Funding on behalf of the South Mountain Volunteer Fire Department to complete an HVAC replacement project at the fire station.
- Letterkenny Township – $362,199 – Funding on behalf of the Pleasant Hall Volunteer Fire Company for renovations to its building and grounds.
- Mercersburg Water Authority – $500,000 – Improvements to Mercersburg Borough’s water system.
- Southampton Township – $55,544 – Funding on behalf of West End Fire and Rescue for the purchase of fire and rescue equipment.
- Waynesboro Borough – $25,509 – Completion of the purchase of TASER devices for the Waynesboro Police Department.
“These 21 awards represent more than numbers on a page,” Mastriano said. “They mean better equipment for the men and women who answer the call when there is an emergency, more reliable drinking water and sewer infrastructure, stronger community institutions and improvements that residents will see and use for years to come. I’m pleased that we were able to help bring more than $4.6 million back home to Franklin and Adams counties.”
The Commonwealth Financing Authority administers Pennsylvania’s Local Share Account Program, which uses gaming revenues to support projects serving the public interest, community improvement and economic development throughout the commonwealth.
