Mastriano Announces Funding for Traffic Safety Improvements in Adams County

HARRISBURG — Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-33) announced today Straban Township will receive more than $105,000 in state funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Automated Red-Light Enforcement (ARLE) grant program to improve traffic safety and accessibility at key intersections. Funding will be used to update signs, pavement markings and lighting at the pedestrian crossing of Old Harrisburg Road and Johnson Drive.

“I’m grateful these dollars will improve safety for drivers and pedestrians in Adams County,” Mastriano said. “Upkeeping our roads is an important piece of building strong communities, yet these projects can be very expensive for local governments.”

The ARLE program funds projects that enhance safety, improve mobility and reduce congestion at signalized intersections. Funding is generated through fines collected from red-light violations in Philadelphia and reinvested statewide in traffic safety improvements.
