On Monday, June 9th, Senator Doug Mastriano, who retired as a Colonel after serving in the United States Army for 30 years, will host an event celebrating the Army’s 250th Birthday. It will take place at 12:00 p.m. in the Main Rotunda of the State Capitol. It will feature members of the Pennsylvania House and Senate who served in the Army. The keynote speaker will be Colonel Gerald York (U.S. Army, Ret.), grandson of the famed Sergeant Alvin C. York of World War I. Sgt. York was a 29-year-old corporal in the biggest series of battles fought by Americans. He was credited with killing as many as 25 Germans with a rifle and a handgun and capturing at least 128 others.
