HARRISBURG – Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-33), chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, will host a Sept. 11 Flight 93 remembrance service on Monday, Sept. 18, at noon at Soldier’s Grove behind the state Capitol, Harrisburg.
The service will recognize the flight crew and passengers on board Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001, when it was hijacked by terrorists and crashed in Somerset County after passengers rushed the pilot cabin in an effort to regain control of the plane. The names of those who perished in the crash will be read aloud.
The service also will feature a prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of “The Star Spangled Banner,” “God Bless America” and “Amazing Grace.”
