Franklin County Projects Awarded $2 Million in Grants

HARRISBURG – Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-33) today announced $2 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant funding has been awarded to two Franklin County projects.

Learn and Work LLC has been awarded $1 million for its Live and Work at Central redevelopment project in Chambersburg. The work will transform the former Central High School property into modern, upscale residential units and corporate office space.

“The buildings in which students once learned math, literature, science and history will once again contribute to the future of this community with the completion of the Live and Work at Central redevelopment project,” said Mastriano.

Waynesboro Borough also received a $1 million grant, which will help with the construction costs of a new Waynesboro emergency services complex.

“This new facility will help meet the emergency service needs of the borough and the surrounding communities,” Mastriano said. “This complex, which will co-locate police, EMS and fire services, will not only ensure the continued availability of critical public health and safety services, but also support the ongoing borough revitalization efforts.”

Pennsylvania’s Office of the Budget administers RACP for acquiring and constructing regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current employment levels, tax revenues or other measures of economic activity.
