Mastriano to Hold Senate Committee Hearing Focusing on Victims of East Palestine Train Wreck One Year Later

DARLINGTON – Sen. Doug Mastriano (R-33) will host a Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee hearing Wednesday, March 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Darlington Township Volunteer Fire Department, 3590 Darlington Road, Beaver County, to hear from residents affected by the Feb. 3, 2023 Norfolk Southern train wreck near the Pennsylvania border with Ohio.

Residents will discuss the impact the train wreck continues to have on their lives one year after toxic chemicals from the railroad cars leaked onto nearby soil and into local waterways. Officials then lit the spillage on fire, releasing a large plume in the air that carried chemicals into the atmosphere.

Residents will testify about the effects on their physical and mental health, financial losses and other negative consequences from the train wreck.
