Hearing on U.S. Army War College
On Tuesday I had the privilege to attend Carlisle Army War College for a hearing to discuss the importance the U.S. Army War College has on the Nation, State and Region. Various speakers gave testimonies discussing the importance including a testimony from Col. Nathan Davis, Deputy Dean who talked about the School of Strategic Land power at the War College. After the hearing, I had the honor to present Major General David Hill and Professor Mike Mara with Pennsylvania Freedom Medals. My Visit to the Shippensburg Community Fair
On Wednesday July 23, I attended the 67th annual Shippensburg Community Fair. I had the opportunity to walk around to visit local business and chat with numerous people. I got to visit the farm animals and talk to the 4-H and FFA groups to learn more about their week at the fair. The first Shippensburg Community Fair was held in 1958 on the West Burd Street parking lot in downtown Shippensburg. It has since expanded and now has approximately 155 acres. The Shippensburg Community Fair is the largest bi-county fair in Pennsylvania that is always held the last full week in July. The fair brings the community together where people can enjoy the delicious food, rides, games and local attractions like the farm animals, tractor pulls and more. Wednesday morning, I had the privilege of presenting Sgt. Joseph Jakubic with a PA Senate Citation upon his retirement from the Chambersburg Borough Police Department. Thank you for your outstanding 25 years of service! 103.7 FM Appreciation Luncheon
Thursday, I attended the 103.7 FM Appreciation Luncheon! It’s always a great time sharing a meal with such hardworking constituents. I had the pleasure of presenting Pennsylvania Freedom Medals to radio personalities Pat Ryan and Michele Jansen for the significant impact they have made on the community through radio 106th American Legion Convention
Last Friday, I was truly honored to address the 106th Pennsylvania American Legion Convention in Harrisburg. Together, we are making remarkable strides in support of our Pennsylvania veterans, and I am inspired by the collective efforts of this incredible group. Let’s continue to unite and create positive change for those who have served our nation! Bill to Expand Body Camera Use for Law Enforcement Passes Senate
To boost safety and accountability, the Senate passed legislation to expand the use of body-worn cameras to additional law enforcement personnel. The measure was sent to the House of Representatives for consideration. Senate Bill 520 authorizes the use of body cameras by special agents with the Office of Attorney General, rangers with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and officers and deputies with the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Fish and Boat Commission. The bill also modernizes the legal framework for body camera usage to ensure consistency in how footage is recorded and managed, regardless of the department using it. New Law Protects Users of Virtual Currency
We passed a new law to protect the increasing number of Pennsylvanians using virtual currency, such as Bitcoin. Act 7 of 2025 requires transmission of virtual currency to be treated similar to money transmission under state law. As more citizens use virtual currencies, the criminal element has increasingly focused on using this platform to evade prosecution. Pennsylvania will join 26 other states regulating virtual currency under their money transmitter acts so individuals can engage with virtual currencies at their own discretion with consumer safeguards in place. Flooded Roads: Turn Around, Don’t Drown
More than half of flood-related drownings occur when a vehicle is driven into flood water. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away most cars.
