Statement Celebrating President Trump’s Inauguration & Vision

On Monday, January 20th, we witnessed a historic moment as Donald J. Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States. This accomplishment reflects the strength of our shared values and the unwavering commitment of Pennsylvanians to his vision for America.

Particularly striking is the overwhelming support President Trump garnered in Franklin and Adams counties, winning more than 2/3 of the vote. This resounding support underscores the alignment of our district with President Trump’s priorities for a stronger and more prosperous nation.

As your State Senator, I am proud of our unwavering support for President Trump. The remarkable turnout in our region serves as a testament to our shared belief in a brighter future for America and Pennsylvania under President Trump’s leadership.

President Trump’s Vision for Pennsylvania and the Nation

President Trump’s vision addresses key priorities that resonate deeply with the unique needs of Pennsylvania. From energy production to manufacturing, immigration reform, and the preservation of free speech, his initiatives promise to benefit all Pennsylvanians.

1. Energy Production: A Foundation for Prosperity

President Trump has prioritized America’s abundant energy resources, including oil and natural gas, as a cornerstone of economic growth. By championing energy independence, his administration aims to create thousands of jobs, and lower energy costs for families. This commitment ensures that our energy workers and communities will thrive as we unlock the full potential of our resources. As one of the nation’s leaders in energy production, our Commonwealth is poised to benefit from this.

2. Manufacturing: Revitalizing Pennsylvania’s Economy

Recognizing the vital role of manufacturing in Pennsylvania’s history, President Trump is dedicated to revitalizing this sector. His policies focus on bringing back high-paying manufacturing jobs lost to globalization by promoting local production and incentivizing American industries. These efforts will strengthen the economy and secure a prosperous future for Pennsylvania’s hardworking families.

3. Curbing Illegal Immigration and Combating the Fentanyl Crisis

The fentanyl epidemic has devastated communities across Pennsylvania. President Trump’s comprehensive approach includes strict measures to curb illegal immigration, which often contributes to the influx of harmful substances. By securing the border and implementing immigration reforms, his administration is committed to protecting our communities and creating a safer environment for all Pennsylvanians.

4. Restoring Free Speech Rights

President Trump has made defending free speech a central pillar of his administration. Over the past four years, Americans’ speech has been censored and suppressed on online platforms through coercive pressure from federal entities. In a historic step, President Trump signed an executive order to restore and protect this fundamental right, ensuring that the voices of all Americans are heard without fear of suppression. As Benjamin Franklin once said, when asked whether the nation would have a republic or a monarchy: “A Republic, if you can keep it.” President Trump’s action reflects a commitment to preserve this vital cornerstone of our democracy.

A Bright Future for Pennsylvania

As the state where the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Constitution was born, Pennsylvania stands as a beacon of freedom and resilience. Together, under President Trump’s leadership, we will uphold these principles and ensure that the voice of the people resonates throughout our great state and nation.

Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication as we move forward with determination toward a brighter, more prosperous future

Two Gender Protection Memo

In the near future, I will introduce legislation that will mirror the President’s Executive Order that will “defend women’s rights and protect freedom of conscience by using clear and accurate language and policies that recognize women are biologically female, and men are biologically male.”

My proposal will require the Pennsylvania State government to use the term “sex” instead of “gender,” and will require that all state government-issued identification documents, accurately reflect the holder’s biological sex as identified at birth.

Across the country, ideologues who deny the biological reality of sex have increasingly employed legal and other socially coercive measures that allow men to self-identify as women.  This access to intimate single-sex spaces and activities designed for women, including domestic abuse shelters and workplace showers, poses a serious threat to women’s safety and well-being.  “Efforts to eradicate the biological reality of sex fundamentally attack women by depriving them of their dignity, safety, and well-being.”

“The erasure of biological sex in language and policy has had a corrosive and divisive impact on the validity of the entire American system”. Basing Commonwealth policy on truth and actual science is critical to public safety, morale, and trust in government itself.

Women must feel secure in bathrooms, locker rooms, schools, and other areas designated for them, including women’s sports.

I firmly believe it is essential to “Follow the Science” which clearly states that biological sex is determined by X and Y chromosomes. Females have two XX chromosomes and males have an X and Y.

Additionally, my legislation will prevent taxpayer funds from being used for gender-transition health care. It will ensure that “privacy in intimate spaces” by designating that single-sex spaces, such as prisons and rape shelters, are based on biological sex and not the socially constructed term “gender identity”.

Lastly, my legislation will permit state institutions, schools, and other state-funded locations, should they choose to do so, to provide “gender neutral” bathrooms and changing areas, ensuring they are completely private and separate from single-sex spaces.

Water Improvement Project Underway in Berwick Township

I am pleased to announce that PENNVEST (Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority Board) has approved a 20-year loan in the amount of $1,626,218.00 for the construction of a new Headworks Building in Berwick Township, located in Adams County.

This loan, with a very favorable interest rate of 1.743% rate for the first 5 years than 2.179% for the remaining years, coupled with a grant of $525,000, will cover the estimated total cost for the project of $2,151,218.00.

This project became necessary because the current headworks building, and its equipment have reached the end of its useful life, causing redundancy and reliability issues. Furthermore, the current building is not sufficiently sized to handle much-needed improvements to better serve the residents of the area.

PENNVEST provides low interest loans to municipalities throughout the Commonwealth that provides low-cost financial assistance to address water, wastewater, stormwater, and non-point source pollution problems that impact public health, safety, the environment, regulatory compliance, and economic development.

Statewide Row Officers Begin Serving PA

Congratulations to new PA Attorney General Dave Sunday and reelected PA Treasurer Stacy Garrity and PA Auditor General Tim DeFoor on their inaugurations on Tuesday. My colleagues and I stand ready to work together to move our commonwealth forward.

As the state’s top law enforcement official, the attorney general works to protect and serve citizens and agencies of the commonwealth. The position is served by several hundred prosecutors, attorneys, investigators, agents and support staff.

The Treasury Department is the custodian of more than $160 billion in state funds and oversees all withdrawals and deposits from state agencies. It also administers programs, including the PA 529 college and career savings plan, that help families prepare for the future. In her first term, Garrity returned record amounts of unclaimed property and reduced fees multiple times for PA 529 and PA ABLE, which is a program that gives individuals with qualifying disabilities a tax-advantaged way to save without impacting their government benefits.

The auditor general is the state’s fiscal watchdog. The role is tasked with ensuring state government lives within its means and every taxpayer dollar is spent wisely. In addition to completing nearly 4,000 legally required audits per year, DeFoor also conducted several high-profile performance audits during his first four years in office. The audits determine how state government programs are working and ensure tax dollars are being spent appropriately.

Assistance Available for Local Historic Preservation

The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission is now accepting applications from nonprofit organizations and local governments for the Keystone Historic Preservation Grant Program.

The grants support projects that identify, preserve, promote and protect historic and archaeological resources in Pennsylvania for the benefit of public and community revitalization.

Two categories of grants – construction and planning – are available for historic resources in Pennsylvania that are listed, or eligible for listing, in the National Register of Historic Places. Applicants may apply for only one type of grant. Learn more and apply online by March 3.

Winter Emergency Travel Kit Tips

Winter travel can bring extended traffic stops. You can ensure your safety and comfort by packing an emergency travel kit.

Be sure to include a blanket, ice scraper, flashlight, warm clothing and gloves, sand, jumper cables, cellphone charger, small shovel, first aid kit, water and nonperishable food. A printable winter emergency kit list from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is available here.

Your winter emergency kit should also include the personal items you need to accommodate the family members who travel with you, such as special medication, baby supplies and pet food.

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month

Human trafficking often goes hand in hand with violence and social issues. If you suspect someone is being trafficked, call the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline at 1-888-373-7888.

Technology, the desire for connection and lack of financial stability all play key roles in the most common ways human trafficking begins. By looking out for those around us, we can help to prevent exploitation before it happens.

While the new legislative session just began, Senate Republicans passed multiple bills last session to help people who were victims of human trafficking. One law ensures that sexually exploited children who are human trafficking victims always have full access to appropriate services and support. Another subjects individuals convicted of certain human trafficking offenses to the same reporting and evaluation requirements as any other sexual offender.
