Mastriano Schedules Special Events for Veterans

HARRISBURG – State Senator Doug Mastriano (R-33) has planned a pair of special events this fall to commend veterans for their sacrifice.

The open houses will feature exhibitors from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the PA Dept. of Military and Veterans Affairs, as well as non-profits representing Roots for Boots, the PA Wounded Warriors and the Veterans Multi-Service Center.

Additionally, Senator Mastriano will present Vietnam War veterans with a commemorative pin.

“Our state is home to more than 800,000 heroes that have served our country with distinction and valor, so it is important for our American patriots to be aware of the services available to them,” said Mastriano. “The 33rd Senate District is renowned for having a robust population of veterans, and it is my honor to fight for them in Harrisburg.”

To be eligible for the Vietnam War commemorative pin, the recipient must be a United States veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of Nov. 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975.

Registration is required.

“As a combat veteran and retired U.S. Army Colonel, our nation’s heroes are very important to me,” said Mastriano. “I am looking forward to meeting American patriots and discussing issues that are important to them, as well as personally thanking them for their service to our country.”

The events are scheduled Saturday, Oct. 19, from 2-4 p.m. at the Gettysburg American Legion Post #202, 528 East Middle Street, Gettysburg; and Saturday, Nov. 16, from 2-4 p.m., at the Shippensburg American Legion Post #233, 100 Dykeman Rd, Shippensburg.

Deadline for RSVP is Oct. 5th for the Adams County event, and Nov. 2nd for the Franklin County event.
